Inspiration. Dedication. Motivation.
Teens Tutor Teens is an organization that embodies all of these characteristics. From teaching tutors how to form partnerships through outreach to teaching tutors how to communicate with and instruct their students, teens tutor teens motivates and inspires tutors to better the society through their tutoring efforts.
My journey with Teens Tutor Teens began as Vice President of the Connecticut chapter. After just a couple months the chapter expanded exponentially with many new tutors and students. Throughout my time as vp I helped recruit more tutors, explain the roles to the tutors and eventually started outreaching for the chapter as well. Later, as President, I initiated a partnership with Triangle Community Center (TCC), a 501c3 nonprofit. With this partnership we were not only able to provide tutoring services to members of TCC but we were also able to give the opportunity to the members to become tutors themselves. It is just so amazing that this organization gives the teens an opportunity to experience some of what they may experience in the future in the corporate world.
After my time as the Connecticut chapter president, I went on to be selected as an advisor of the organization where I worked closely with the other executives to better the organization as a whole. A little after I was chosen as the CMO of the organization through which I worked on promoting and outreaching. I ran the national social media team and the national Instagram where I posted about different topics such as midterm study tips, scholarship tips, and more general information about teens tutor teens. Additionally I worked to refine the bylaws of the company and take part in exec selection preparation for the future. As the CMO I have had the privilege of working closely with the CEO, Gabby Jones. Gabby has been such a great leader of this organization bringing it to a new level every year and she has even inspired me to try starting my own organization like this in the future. Having a dedicated leader like her has really helped teens tutor teens to stick by its vision and mission.
Initially, I viewed Teens Tutor Teens as just another tutoring organization. However, TTT is so much more than just a tutoring organization. It gives everyone involved the opportunity to learn and grow in different ways. For me personally I learned very well how to write a contract. I learned what to look for in a contract and what some potential red flags could be. I learned how to communicate with organizations and even how to deliver the contracts. These skills are so crucial when it comes to my future in the business world.
My experience at Teens Tutor teens has overall been nothing but the best. I have communicated with people all across the world, formed strong relationships and friendships and developed many skills such as leadership and integrity that will help me in college and beyond. I extend my best wishes to the organization and its members all of the best in the future and I hope that the organization continues to make its strong impacts on the communities across the country. Thank you to the tutors and chapter heads for always being so cooperative and responsive. Thank you to my fellow executives for being so supportive and helpful and thank you to Gabby Jones for giving me the opportunity to be part of such a wonderful organization.
